3:44 Adam Yeah, I've been trying to think a lot about uh what what my top Halloween movies are and I like can think of are the Rob Zombie Halloween movies that you hate.

4:27 Lee Uh, so, um, it was something we kicked the idea about of previously.

4:35 Lee And, and then Chris had done a podcast previously, like a techie podcast.

4:42 Lee Um, and then we were in the car on Christmas Day, we'd been to a family event.

4:49 Lee Um, and I mentioned to Chris, oh, it's funnily enough, I wanted to do a podcast, but I always wanted to do one on horror.

4:57 Lee And he said, oh, I've never really watched a lot of horror, there's so much out there I wouldn't know where to start.

5:02 Lee Um, so it just all felt like it felt perfectly together.

5:06 Adam Plus, plus I never get a chance to watch anything, so it was a perfect excuse that I have to watch something.

5:13 Unknown You got to service side those, uh, when you're an adult, we've talked about this before in our shows, you know, you got to shave out that time and and say, hey, this is not, uh, this is not going to be interrupted by grown-up shit.

5:36 Adam What is your take on the horror genre, you know, you you've been welcome to it, what are your feelings on it?

5:41 Chris Yeah, I've got to say it's, it's just progressed so much, like, um,

5:46 Chris we watched Sinister recently, and and that was, uh, yeah, I was not expecting that to work as well as it did.

5:53 Adam As a parent, that movie scares the hell out of me.

5:57 Chris Yeah, well, especially because the boy in it actually looks quite like my son.

6:01 Chris And he's about the same age, and it was like, okay, that that adds another layer to this, you know, so like, yeah.

6:08 Chris No, I just, um, seeing so many different subgenres within the genre of honor, horror, just you know, learning so much about it has been fantastic.

7:22 Unknown And and here's my outsider perspective on Welcome to Horror, um, especially compared to us, they actually do pretty intensive research on the films they watch, rather than just bitching at each other all day.

7:39 Unknown So that's good to get your, uh, get your fix of trivia and actual, uh, history and information on these, uh, movies.

7:48 Unknown And you guys do everything from, you know, classic Hammer films all the way up to, like you were saying, Sinister, more modern stuff and stuff like, you know, Phantom of the Paradise and and things of that nature, which is one of Adam and I's only movies that we.

8:03 Lee Yeah, it we tried to, that was kind of one of the things we set out when we started recording was, we wanted Chris to not just see the modern stuff, but give him a complete overview, all the all the different subgenres and a bit of every decade and try and get a a real mix so that he didn't miss any elements.

8:19 Lee Because, I mean, obviously Adam and myself have been watching horror forever really since we were kids.

8:27 Lee Um, so a lot of stuff that we, even stuff that we kind of like myself, you know, Italian horror and stuff, I'm not a fan of, so I'll leave that.

18:49 Lee definitely, I think it's a lot of, I mean, when you see the the stuff popping up, it's like,

19:02 Lee And they're generally popular, I mean, that was that was always the thing, the cheap mask that you could buy every Halloween for the past 15 years was the Jason hockey mask.

19:10 Lee Where it's obviously just and a lot of, and at the moment, like the pound shop is just full of, uh, purge masks and things like that.

19:18 Lee So, I think a lot of it feeds from whatever's contemporary and horror.

21:24 Adam So here's what here's what Ghostwatch is about, right, back in the nineties, there's a thing called the BBC.

21:30 Adam And it's this I guess it's like the the the the the CBS of England.

21:34 Adam So, uh, some guy got him to do a a live TV broadcast that was a ghost hunting show.

21:41 Adam And so the whole world watches it, the whole country watches it Halloween and it was it's amazingly done.

21:47 Adam Because they go, investigate this house where there's like these kids in.

21:51 Adam It's always it's always teenage girls, right?

21:53 Adam Ghosts are always with the fucking teenage girls.

21:55 Adam I get it.

21:56 Adam So, anyways, they they start doing the whole walk through and they're like setting everything up and they're like real actual news broadcasters, so people watching this will think it was a real thing.

22:05 Adam And then you start going through it and it's just kind of lame at the beginning and then like stuff starts happening and then they're like halfway through, they're like, oh wait, it was all staged.

22:12 Adam And it's it's so beautifully done.

22:14 Adam And then by the end it's not all staged.

22:15 Adam And then by the end everybody who's watching it is involved in it, too.

22:19 Adam That thing, that thing was amazingly done.

22:21 Adam Like, it really, I mean, I Bobby told me to watch it.

22:24 Adam Because because this because y'all and, uh, I watched it today and it really floored me.

22:28 Adam I mean, like from start to finish, it was fantastically done.

22:32 Adam And there's no I wish I had gotten to see it when it happened freaking 30 whatever years ago when y'all got to watch it, you know.

22:37 Unknown So, yeah, did you guys watch that on on the original broadcast?

22:43 Lee And I think Lee Lee came into it late, so because it was part of like the BBC had like a one-off drama strand at that point.

22:51 Lee And so it was just part of a series of like films that were that the BBC had made.

22:59 Lee So you got that at the start of it and then it goes into the broadcast.

23:06 Lee It's done exactly how a live TV show from the BBC would have been done at that point.

23:13 Lee We have we have like a crime show called a show called Crime Watch.

23:20 Lee And they do like nature watch sort of stuff, so watch was always like a thing.

23:25 Lee They actually gave out the real BBC's number and all the people presenting it are real BBC journalists.
