Adam Okay, Adam, uh before we get started on the show uh this evening,
Adam the uh the Transatlantic holiday, welcome to everyone. Welcome to everyone. Welcome to everyone.
Adam Uh, well, let's just introduce everyone. First we got Chris over in the UK as well.
Chris Hello.
Adam We got uh Adam, not our Adam. We'll get into that in a second.
Guest Adam How do?
Adam As a reminder, our Adam will be known as Crude Rude Dude when referring to him.
Lee Crude dude in the house. How crude and how rude is the dude?
Adam We shall see.
Lee Pretty crude.
Adam Depends how much bourbon is drunk.
Adam And then we have Lee.
Lee Hello.
Adam Uh now Crude Rude Dude, what I'd like to do, you sound like the worm from the Labyrinth fairly.
Lee It was cute. It was very proper. Very proper.
Adam Uh, Crude Rude Dude, I'd like to go over the ground rules with you when it comes to um recording remotely. Do you remember what those are?
Adam Yeah, I'm not supposed to go outside to smoke, which I'm doing right now. I'm not supposed to spit while I'm fucking microphone. What else we got? What other goddamn rules you got?
Adam Mute it. Mute it. I immediately regret bringing up the rules because uh you're a natural-born contrarian, and I'm watching you on screen right now walk outside so you weren't lying about that.
Adam Uh, just do me a favor, uh Crude Rude Dude, just just try to remain relatively the same distance from the microphone. Is that a good compromise?
Adam Yeah, I can do that.
Adam I can do that.
Adam And I think we got to keep it PG-13. However, uh because we are speaking with people in the UK, it is okay to say cunt.
Adam Yeah.
Lee Absolutely.
Adam That's that's that's. I got full endorsement by everyone.
Adam Oh yeah, for sure.
Lee Is it a placeholder? It's like you guys use um.
Adam I was told this cunt and then this other cunt come up to me and I said, fuck off you cunt.
Adam Drill me.
Adam Good news is your dates are here.
Lee What's the bad news?
Adam They're dead.
Adam All right, here we are once again. You may have remembered a couple months ago for Halloween season, we did a mashup episode with our friends from Welcome to Horror. This is uh holiday special number two. Uh welcome to everyone. Welcome everyone is what I like to say in these situations.
Adam Um, we've done introductions, we've got that out of the way. Uh, what I do want to do is obligatory what's everyone drinking tonight? Uh, let's start with Chris.
Chris Well, I'm on the Adnam's mulled wine to get in the Christmas spirit. Heated in the microwave.
Adam Oh.
Adam Now, what is a mulled wine?
Chris Mulled wine, it's uh what's it got in it?
Adam I know I've had it.
Chris Red wine and then it's got cinnamon.
Lee Red wine, nutmeg, lemonade, and then spices.
Adam Are you making shit up Adam, or is that for real? Because that sounds good.
Adam That's Lee.
Adam Oh, that was Lee. I can't see anything.
Adam You all sound the same to me.
Adam It's fine.
Adam Is that for real? Is that a real thing?
Adam Yeah, you've never had mulled wine?
Adam Mulled?
Adam You can go buy it. Mulled wine.
Chris M U L L E D. Mulled.
Adam Oh, yeah, you got to spell this shit for me, all right?
Adam Mulled wine.
Adam I feel like I'm watching the an episode of The Office right now.
Adam I really like this dude.
Adam I know it's funny, but I just got to let it register.
Chris This This is a delicately sweet and vibrantly aromatic with all the traditional heart-warming scents of spices and citrus. We've used orange peel, cinnamon, cloves, and vanilla to give warmth and depth to juicy red wine.
Adam Now, Crude Rude Dude, can you read the ingredients on whatever it is you're drinking right now?
Adam Yeah, it's got a danger government warning. It don't say it don't say shit.
Adam It says it's extra aged and distilled in Kentucky.
Adam Who says that?
Adam So you're drinking your daily flask of Evan Williams.
Adam Uh-huh.
Adam And one of these a day.
Adam You didn't holiday it up in any way?
Adam No, I mean, I could put some cinnamon in there or some shit, I guess so.
Adam Put some nutmeg or cinnamon in there.
Adam But I don't want to waste the whole bottle.
Adam These things cost like six bucks.
Adam All right, uh Adam, uh what are you drinking this evening?
Guest Adam I'm drinking Heineken because we had it in the cupboard.
Adam The only reason to drink Heineken.
Guest Adam And and it doesn't have like a, you know, it doesn't say it gives you floral notes of a phone kiosk outside a car park or anything like that.
Guest Adam But it does say, please enjoy responsibly.
Guest Adam The UK Chief Medical Officer's recommended adult recommended adults do not regularly drink more than 14 units per week.
Adam Whoa.
Adam 14 units a week?
Guest Adam Which is two that's seven pints. That's seven pints.
Adam Seven pints.
Adam Okay. So they'll even say that like.
Adam That's like that's like a reasonable amount of alcohol to drink per week.
Adam Yeah, but you know what? Here in the States, they're not like they'll tell you don't drink this much in a sitting.
Adam They're not fucking telling you what to do for a week.
Adam You don't judge me, government.
Adam Jesus.
Lee What's the problem? They don't they say, this is how much to have a week and then they say, don't save it all up and binge it. And it's like, well, tell us how much we should have every two days then, for Christ's sake, right?
Adam Right.
Adam Yeah, I do uh, I do like two drinks a day uh during the weekdays and then, you know, Fridays it's it's game on.
Adam Let's see what happens.
Adam And then uh I got to introduce uh, you know, you you've heard if you've heard episodes of not for everyone podcast, there's a few in the past where we did the white claw challenge a couple times in which I thought, I I uh we I tested to see if it was actually possible to catch a buzz off of white claw hard seltzers.
Adam And uh much to my chagrin, yes, it very much is. It is possible.
Adam I've watched. I I've been there when it happens. It happens.
Adam So we want to apply that scientific test to uh eggnog, which is a festive drink.
Adam Uh anyone have thoughts on eggnog in general?
Adam I know you either like it or you don't.
Adam There's very few people that are neither here nor there about it.
Adam I like it. I don't go out of my way to get it, though.
Adam I like dick.
Adam But otherwise, I'm not like, oh, yeah, eggnog's on sale. Like, I don't care.
Adam Okay, fair enough.
Adam Uh any anyone eggnog haters in the crowd right now?
Guest Adam I'm not entirely sure, but I don't think I can drink it again because I the only time I did drink it and I can't remember what it tasted like, um, but I drank a lot of other stuff and threw up and that was part of the throw-up.
Adam That'll happen.
Guest Adam And most of the other drinks that were on that list that night, I can't touch anymore, so I'm kind of assuming I can't drink eggnog anymore either.
Adam Um, here's some word word of advice from personal experience. Never mix white Russians with tequila shots.
Adam Ooh.
Adam College mistake, college mistake.
Adam Of many.
Adam Um, all right Lee, what do you got? You want to explain uh so I'm going to be drinking eggnog this entire time. I'm going to see if if I can catch a buzz on it.
Adam I know that Lee is drinking uh eggnog in addition to other things, although he says he's not here to get very ridiculous.
Lee Well, yeah, so so I'm drinking eggnog but over here we don't get it like pre-made so if you have it, you have to make it yourself.
Lee Um, so we've followed our traditional recipe, um, so I've made I I love it, but because we make it ourselves, I do see what goes into it, so as a result, I normally only have it on Christmas Day.
Adam Okay.
Lee But as you said you were going to see if you could get drunk on it, I couldn't see why you were confused about that when I know that when I do it, I'll put half a bottle of cognac in it.
Lee So, I've made a batch of it up.
Adam The science is already settled, basically.
Adam It's not a sound hypothesis.
Lee Yeah, so I've got a pint and a half of it. It's got uh half a bottle of cognac in it. Um, but yeah, I have had two hard seltzers and a double punk at 8.2% before I started it.
Lee So um I'm not here to get drunk, but if I do fall over, just carry on recording.
Adam Lee, you are literally like the the English version of Bobby. Like that's what I'm seeing now.
Adam It's just weird. It's weird.
Adam You seem like less of a douche, but less of a douche.
Adam Um, hey Bobby, I got to ask you a question, man.
Adam So, are you just using like the eggnog you bought at fucking HB? That's a grocery store.
Adam Is that is it grocery store eggnog?
Adam Great question, Adam.
Adam I walked in last night with a bottle of uh, I went to the liquor store, my buddy the liquor store.
Adam It was a yes or no question, Bobby, it was a yes or no question.
Adam My buddy the liquor store, he works there. I know him. He's my buddy because I met him at the liquor store.
Adam Uh, I told him about this little experiment and he's like, oh, just buy this stuff. It's really good.
Adam He recommended it. It's called Pennsylvania Dutch eggnog made with real dairy cream, rum, brandy, and blended whiskey, so it's a whole trifecta fun there.
Adam Um, and I walked in in the door with it and my wife saw it. She's like, are you is that for the show? And I was like, yeah.
Adam And uh she asked me, you know, what Lee was doing and I told her I told her she's that he's making like homemade style eggnog, like traditional with actual egg whites and cognac.
Adam And for whatever reason, that made her say, I'd very much like to visit him.
Adam So that was that was the clincher that uh convinced uh us that we we want to go visit Lee because he makes homemade eggnog.
Adam I don't think he even likes eggnog.
Adam Yeah, he's like, he's like a better British you.
Adam That's great.
Adam I love you, Lee.
Adam You're fucking awesome.
Lee If you get if you get the opportunity, drink his cider.
Lee Oh yeah, I've got two apple trees and I make cider in the uh in the winter and it's normally ready for about Christmas time and that is a bit special.
Lee Thank you Adam.
Guest Adam That's Fox Killer.
Lee Yeah.
Guest Adam Because it was the apples that killed a fox.
Lee Oh yeah.
Lee Yeah, we had some windfalls and a fox ate them and then died at the end of the garden and I was like, that's that's what I've made my cider from.
Guest Adam Best cider since.
Adam You can taste the the uh soul of a fox and Lee's cider.
Guest Adam Now, this is the marketing we need.
Adam Yes. Fox Killer cider.
Adam That would sell.
Adam That would sell.
Adam I'd drink it.
Adam If it'll kill a fox, I'll fucking give it a shot.
Adam Probably get you drunk if nothing else.
Adam Words to live by from uh Crude Rude Dude.
Adam So what's next, Bobby? What's next on the agenda, boys?
Adam You know what? I'm going to let you take it, Crude Rude Dude, cuz uh I don't need you to defer to me after scolding me 15 minutes ago.
Adam So what do you got next?
Adam What do you want to do?
Adam So what we're going to do is the same thing that we did last time. We're going to go over the welcome to everyone's top holiday movies.
Adam And this time it's Christmas edition.
Adam So, each of us are going to spew off some of our favorite uh holiday movies for the holiday of Christmas, which is we're in the month of December and and whatnot.
Adam So uh, we're going to start with the best name in the dictionary, Adam from Angland, give us give us one of your top holiday movies.
Guest Adam Right.
Guest Adam Well, I think I suspect that other people may have this.
Guest Adam Um, it's Batman Returns.
Adam Yes.
Adam Yes.
Adam Yes, that's my number one, man.
Adam That's my number one.
Lee Hey.
Guest Adam Did anyone else have it?
Adam No, I I didn't take it because I knew you had it and I knew uh Crude Rude Dude had it, but I wouldn't have I wouldn't have taken it anyway.
Guest Adam Oh, but it's I mean, it's just a yeah.
Guest Adam Basically, I know a lot of people, it's I I like to feel as a former goth, um,
Adam You're goth still.
Guest Adam Yeah.
Guest Adam I'm still, oh, I'm still goth.
Guest Adam It's just, you know, I just acknowledge quite how horrible accoutrements this is to be plastered in makeup.
Adam It's.
Adam You're wearing a.
Adam Hey, listen, you're wearing a David Lynch shirt, all right?
Adam That's enough.
Adam Yeah, that makes you goth immediately.
Guest Adam Fantastic.
Guest Adam I feel true to myself then.
Adam David Lynch.
Guest Adam But I I feel the goth the goth pretenders, it's Nightmare Before Christmas.
Guest Adam But the actual Tim Burton Christmas movie, if you've got a rotten soul, is Batman Returns.
Adam So what you're saying is, if you're Nightmare Before Christmas, you're team like Marilyn Manson.
Adam If you're if you're Batman Returns, you're team like Bauhaus or skinny puppy or or something like that.
Guest Adam Yeah, yeah.
Guest Adam You're getting into the harder edge, I would say.
Guest Adam Because and it's nothing nothing says Christmas like a twisted, orphan vigilante, stalking the streets, pursuing a deformed circus freak who is planning to kill all the children in the city and a woman who is basically been me-tooed to death by Christopher Walken, only to come back as like sexy death avenger of everything.
Adam Dominatrix.
Guest Adam And you're like.
Guest Adam Yeah.
Guest Adam And it's yeah.
Guest Adam And that reminds me of Christmas.
Adam Jesus Christ.
Adam It certainly does, Adam.
Adam I you know, I can't the way you just described it is like really like what my soul says that movie is.
Adam You put it into words in a way that I couldn't.
Guest Adam Thank you, sir.
Adam I I that's my favorite Batman movie for one, because A, Batman kills so many motherfuckers.
Adam He laughs as he fucking attaches dynamite to somebody and kicks him in the sewer.
Adam Batman smirks when a motherfucker blows up.
Adam And then and then you got DeVito as the Penguin running for mayor and Cliff Walkin.
Adam So, hands down, Batman Returns, best Batman, best Christmas movie, that was going to be my number one.
Adam So, I guess when I'm doing any particular order, maybe we are, but you just took my number one, Adam.
Guest Adam Oh, well, I I feel join I feel it is our joining in our number one, shall we say?
Adam Yeah, stealing it.
Guest Adam Cuz I think definitely it's it's the one that really of of everything on there, it's the one that really ticks the box of, no, I will watch that at Christmas.
Guest Adam And I will love the fact that someone actually thought, oh, yeah, this is a great Christmas movie.
Guest Adam And then lots of people panicked and said, bring it out in the summer for fuck's sake.
Guest Adam Because this is not a Christmas.
Adam You're right.
Adam They're like, please God.
Adam There's a particularly in this movie where like they launch a kind of like jester clown onto the giant Gotham City.
Adam Uh Christmas tree there.
Adam No, no.
Adam He goes and steals a baby.
Adam Is what he does.
Adam He steals a baby.
Adam Like uh just like they did in biblical times.
Adam Yeah.
Guest Adam It's it's it's Herod.
Guest Adam But like and Danny DeVito, this is this is the best fucking this is probably Danny DeVito's best role.
Guest Adam He is just perfectly fucking horrible.
Chris It's darkest hour.
Guest Adam Yeah, it's brilliantly and again.
Guest Adam It's like, this is this is kind of a kids' film.
Adam Mmm.
Guest Adam You know, but it's still it's it's dark as all fuck.
Guest Adam And the first the first Tim Burton Batman's pretty dark.
Guest Adam But a yes.
Adam Batman.
Adam I'm addicted to Funko Pops and they just released the Danny DeVito as the Penguin.
Adam So I had to buy that shit.
Adam Is it fair to did it does it have to be like.
Adam Did it have to be set during Christmas, though?
Adam Or does it just happen to be?
Adam No, that movie could have been set any time.
Adam But it was set during Christmas because Tim Burton's like, I'm going to make my Christmas movie.
Adam And it's Batman and the Penguin's running for mayor and killing kids.
Adam It's great.
Guest Adam But also in that film, that's the other thing I like about it, is it still has the bits that are a kid's superhero film.
Guest Adam Like where the fucking like an army of penguins with rockets on them.
Lee Yeah.
Guest Adam Like invades Gotham, which is like proper Adam West Batman.
Guest Adam That's proper.
Guest Adam But also it's like, oh, yeah, the penguins with rockets are invading Gotham.
Guest Adam Meanwhile, you know, like flipper-handed Herod has kidnapped everyone's children.
Guest Adam And you're like.
Adam And he bites a man's nose.
Guest Adam Oh, yes.
Adam Could be worse, my nose could be.
Chris Just covered with blood.
Adam Now, that movie will definitely is explains a lot about the person I am, and I'm sure Crude Rude Dude is today.
Adam Uh-huh.
Adam Uh-huh.
Adam So, who's next?
Adam Who's next?
Adam You're running the show here, Crude Rude Dude.
Adam Who do you got next?
Adam Why do I have to run the show?
Adam Because you were bitching about it earlier.
Adam Let's go, uh, let's let's go back and forth across the ocean here.
Adam I was going to go with Batman Returns, right?
Adam But uh Adam sold that from me.
Adam So uh, I'm going to stick with uh, we we mentioned this a little bit.
Adam Chris brought it up, like horror movies.
Adam Because when I was thinking of my list, like the majority of my my Christmas favorite movies are, you know, Batman Returns and shit like that.
Adam But I wanted to go with one that's an actual horror movie.
Adam And Silent Night Deadly Night is without a doubt.
Adam It's it's a it's a great Christmas movie.
Adam But it's just a great slasher horror movie.
Adam Hands down, that movie's fantastic.
Adam Thoughts?
Adam And has everybody seen, who's seen Silent Night Deadly Night?
Chris No.
Guest Adam I have.
Guest Adam I saw it I saw it years ago.
Guest Adam And remember but I just I remember it more as a that was just proper.
Guest Adam Like you say.
Guest Adam That is a proper slasher film.
Adam Linnea Quigley's in it.
Adam Is she?
Adam I remember that.
Adam Here's here's what I remember about the movie.
Adam And this is why if you haven't seen the movie, you haven't seen it in decades, this is why you should watch it.
Adam The movie starts out with a kid and his parents going to the old folks' home to visit grandpa.
Adam Now, grandpa is near catatonic, so he won't talk to anybody.
Adam But the parents and the doctors walk away to go go discuss him behind closed doors.
Adam And and grandpa comes alive and starts talking to the grandkid.
Adam And he starts telling him, you know, about Santa Claus, right?
Adam The kid's like, yeah.
Adam He's like, well, you know Santa Claus gives presents to the good kids, right?
Adam He's like, yeah.
Adam He's like, you know what Santa Claus does to the bad kids?
Adam The kid's like, no.
Adam He says, Santa Claus punishes them.
Adam So, fucking grandpa instills this terror of Santa Claus into an eight-year-old child.
Adam And then they leave.
Adam And they're driving home, and while they're driving home, there's a Santa Claus in the middle of the street and he's like, I need help.
Adam And so the parents try to help him, and Santa Claus murders the parents in front of the kid.
Adam Yes.
Lee I didn't say this.
Lee It's great.
Lee I didn't say this.
Adam And if you watch Silent Night Deadly Night 2, it's you know when uh like sitcoms would get lazy and they do like the variety show where they just the clip show where they show clips of previous episodes.
Adam Um, that's essentially Silent Night Deadly Night 2. It's all like something like 70% of it is just footage from the original one in the form of flashbacks.
Adam And that's where you see, you know, the famous like garbage day meme slash video that was going around the internet for garbage day, that's Silent Night Deadly Night 2.
Adam Anyway.
Chris So is that a proper not for everyone?
Adam It is.
Adam It is.
Adam The only thing.
Chris It does sound like it.
Adam We've we've kind of backed her away into a corner around Christmas time because we've always done we're not doing Christmas movies during Christmas time.
Adam Uh for the most part.
Adam But one day, maybe we will.
Adam One day.
Adam You know what, let's do a Christmas movie, let's do Silent Night Deadly Night in like June.
Adam Just say fuck everybody.
Guest Adam Do the do the Batman Returns release schedule.
Adam Yeah.
Guest Adam Do all your Christmas movies when it's absolutely blazing hot.
Adam Crude Rude Dude, that was a great Christmas pick, Silent Night Deadly Night.
Adam Um, I'm wondering if anyone chose Miracle on 34th Street, is that ever going to come up in this uh in this conversation?
Adam But so far no, it's it's.
Adam We'll find out.
Adam It's murderous penguins that that steal children and a guy who witnesses his father getting killed by Santa Claus.
Adam Um, Chris, what do you got?
Chris Well, so, I I don't have my favorite Christmas movies exactly.
Chris Because uh I've just not had that many that I watch regularly.
Chris However, since doing Welcome to Horror, I've now got a few that could now exist in a Christmas list.
Chris And the first one is going to be Gremlins, because that does that does encapsulate everything I think you need in a a great fun Christmas movie as well as having some horror aspects to it.
Chris Yes.
Adam Yeah.
Chris Yeah.
Chris But uh it's it's just, you know, it's just an awesome film.
Chris Um cute cute creature that turns into, you know, sort of more cute creatures, but with a nasty side.
Adam Yeah.
Chris But, you know, really, what more do you want?
Chris So, excellent cast.
Adam Yeah, I I am a fan of Gremlins.
Adam I'm glad it came up, obviously.
Adam Um, it it does have that nice mix of horror, comedy, cuteness and Corey Feldman. So and cute Corey Feldman. So one of his finest performances, to be honest with you.
Adam I'm not even saying that jokingly.
Adam Corey Feldman's a great actor.
Chris He does some great performances.
Adam Um, any any thoughts on Gremlins from the rest of us?
Guest Adam I'm just really heartened that Chris cuz we did cover it as an episode.
Chris We did.
Guest Adam Because we we we just we just played to the numbers.
Guest Adam And we just we always do Christmas episode like Christmas films for Christmas episodes.
Guest Adam And we are kind of now running out, that's one of the that's probably the problem with doing that.
Guest Adam Um, but yeah, it's it's a great Christmas film because I I like the fact that it's very.
Guest Adam It's basically it's a wonderful life and then you put a load of spiteful little monsters in there.
Guest Adam And yeah, that feels.
Adam It's like having children.
Adam Just like having children.
Adam Very much so.
Lee Because I considered that I I so I had a discussion with Lady Jennifer uh this evening before we started recording and I said to her, you know, if it were you, what would you choose?
Lee Um, and she said Gremlins and then before she'd even taken a breath, she went, no, Gremlins 2. Gremlins 2 is a far superior movie.
Lee And it's.
Adam It's got Hulk Hogan.
Chris That is, yeah.
Chris Now I was going to try and sneak Gremlins 2 in alongside Gremlins and say that really for the full experience you have to watch both on the same day.
Chris And yeah, like the the difference between them is fantastic.
Chris Because Gremlins 2 is just crazy.
Adam It's got a spider.
Adam It's got a hot chick Gremlin.
Chris Anything you can think of is in there.
Adam Wait, was Gremlins 2 at Christmas, though?
Chris So it wasn't but you know.
Lee It's not. Oh.
Chris So if you watch the first one, it's okay.
Adam Yeah.
Adam I'm going to say this.
Adam Okay, I guess that makes it my turn.
Adam Um, I'm going to have to go with something the first uh things I thought of were things uh that I grew up on and things that this is one of those movies that though it is a Christmas movie, I still wanted to rent it all the time throughout the year when I was very, very young, for whatever reason.
Adam And I still love the movie to this day, 1988's uh Bill Murray starring Scrooged. And uh we talk about 1988 a lot on on that for everyone podcast and how it's just a um, it's just a tsunami of of great entertainment, right, Adam?
Adam It definitely is. Definitely is my favorite.
Adam If you don't know, Scrooged is the uh is a reimagining of Charles Dickens's classic a Christmas Carol, right?
Adam Only it stars uh Bill Murray as your Ebenezer Scrooge character and um there's just wonderful, I believe Frank Oz did a lot of the puppetry in it.
Adam Um, just the those types of visuals where it's like that comedy horror mix, um again, just explained so much about the the taste I've developed and uh the um the psychological scars I have as an adult.
Adam Things of that nature.
Adam Um, it's it's an absolute uh December essential, killer cast, Karen Allen from uh Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Adam Buster Point Dextra.
Adam The love interest.
Adam Buster Poindexter.
Adam Hot, hot, hot.
Adam Um, Bobcat Goldthwaites in it.
Adam Yeah.
Adam Um, I isn't uh isn't Mama Fratelli?
Adam Throw Mama Fratelli from the train in that movie as well?
Adam Robert Mitchum's in this movie.
Adam It's.
Adam It's a uh absolute comedy horror Christmas classic and it makes you feel good by the end of it.
Adam So uh, and in the same way that a traditional Christmas Carol movie would do.
Adam Uh any anyone else thoughts on Scrooged?
Chris I haven't seen it for a long time.
Chris But I think you've convinced me there that I need to watch that again.
Chris Because that is a great list of characters.
Adam I remember um going to the the video rental store and and and it wasn't Christmas time.
Adam And then my sister yelling at me because I wanted to rent it because it was like, you know, May, April or May or something.
Adam She's like, no, we're not renting that.
Adam It's not even Christmas time.
Adam Getting Earth Girls are Easy.
Adam Um, which is another great film that doesn't belong on this list.
Adam But uh.
Lee Yeah, no, I was just going to say the same, like it's I I almost when Chris said, I haven't seen this, I'm glad he saved himself by saying for a long time.
Lee Because I thought in the moment, he hadn't seen it.
Lee And I was like, well, that's why Chris Christmas schedule, fuck.
Lee Because we need to re-record this entire show.
Adam This just turns into a watch party immediately. Like, well, fuck this.
Adam We're going to go watch Scrooged.
Adam We're not recording this episode anymore.
Guest Adam No, we'll keep it rolling. It just becomes a commentary episode.
Guest Adam It nearly nearly was on the list. I had a real decision on like two movies.
Guest Adam And Scrooged was nearly there.
Guest Adam And the main reason is, I've never owned Scrooged on DVD or video or anything like that.
Guest Adam But I've never had to because at Christmas, I would go and see Lee.
Guest Adam Or I would go and see Dean.
Guest Adam Lee's brother.
Guest Adam Or I would see them both together.
Guest Adam And we would watch Scrooged.
Lee Always.
Guest Adam Always I would always, yeah, that and that.
Guest Adam That for me was like sort of that is Christmas tradition and in a way it just was like, oh, shit.
Guest Adam Yeah, it's made me miss actually going around people's houses.
Guest Adam Because it was like, yeah, no, that would be that would be when I saw Scrooged, is I'd go go and see Lee, I'd go and see Dean and usually, yeah, I'd be watch I'd watch Scrooged twice in one week.
Guest Adam But.
Guest Adam That's the sort of film that you do watch twice in one week.
Adam And and what's kind of interesting about it is like it's one of the only, if not the only, at least on the top of my head, movie where I I think of uh Bill Murray's character being a total prick.
Adam But he's still somehow Bill Murray at the same time.
Adam Like you still love him because like, oh, that's Bill Murray.
Adam But he's.
Adam But he's just an awful human being.
Guest Adam Yeah, that that is the trick with Bill Murray a lot of the time, though.
Adam Just in general.
Guest Adam Well, I think even like sort of something like Ghostbusters he always played a shithouse that you like.
Adam That's true.
Adam That's true.
Guest Adam He's always on his side, but he's the dickhead of the movie every time. They would be people who if they were played by anyone else.
Guest Adam You would probably you would probably not like the movie because you're like, well, why are they giving this guy any kudos or anything?
Guest Adam But Bill Murray somehow makes it okay to be a prick.
Adam He's a lovable asshole.
Adam I get it.
Adam I get it.
Adam I get where you're coming from.
Adam If Bill Murray knocked on my door on Christmas Day and and walked into my house and stabbed my mother, I would be like, oh, Bill Murray.
Adam It's so funny.
Lee And the irony is, you know of all the celebrities, he's probably the one who'd just turn up.
Lee Do all your uh, do all your dishes and your laundry and then leave you.
Adam And just leave, yeah.
Lee Supposedly the nicest guy on the planet.
Adam In Austin, we have South by Southwest.
Adam Before the the Dracula plague hit.
Adam And he would just show up to bars or not even during South by, he would show up to bars in Austin randomly and just get behind the bar and just start serving people.
Adam That's why.
Adam They were like, oh, yeah.
Adam Bill Murray's here.
Chris So is he head-to-head with Keanu Reeves then for the nicest guy in Hollywood?
Adam Pretty much. Possibly, possibly.
Adam Yeah.
Adam Yeah.
Adam But Bill Murray's actually talented, so he wins that.
Adam Oh.
Adam That was going to be my thought.
Adam That would be the clincher is which one is the better actor. Bill Murray.
Adam Hey, listen, I like Keanu Reeves movies.
Adam I love them.
Adam He doesn't fuck up a movie, right?
Adam It's just about.
Adam But he's just kind of like a blank slate, man.
Adam Like, I love Keanu Reeves, don't get me wrong.
Adam But he's not going to win fucking best dramatic actor ever, you know what I mean?
Adam Like.
Adam Nicolas Cage can win an Oscar, Keanu, he knows he's not going to win an Oscar.
Adam And he's cool with that.
Adam And that's why I like about him.
Lee I absolutely agree.
Lee I'll watch anything he's in, he's supposed to be the nicest guy you'll ever meet.
Lee He is a terrible actor.
Lee I'll still watch everything he's in because it's him and I love him.
Adam He's not look at.
Adam I like the sound of his voice.
Guest Adam In a weird way, I think he's a bit like Arnie. I think he knows his limitations.
Adam Yep.
Guest Adam And plays to his strengths.
Guest Adam You know, I don't think he he's not under the illusion, he's never going to be the guy who's like, oh, he spent six months running the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Guest Adam And.
Guest Adam He gave us his amazing Hamlet.
Guest Adam He ain't going to do that.
Adam He's not the guy where they're like, yeah, he he really submerges himself in a role.
Adam He doesn't he doesn't immerse himself in the role.
Adam He's just like, yeah, I'm going to be Keanu Reeves and it's going to work.
Adam Yeah, I'm going to read this set of lines.
Adam Right, read them like Keanu Reeves would.
Adam You're fine, it's fine.
Adam Don't do anything else.
Adam All right, so Christmas movies.
Adam Oh, sorry.
Adam No, I'll go.
Adam I'll go.
Adam Lee, uh, what do you what do you got?
Lee Okay.
Lee So my next one.
Lee Oh yeah.
Lee Oh, I'll say this boys.
Lee The comic book is amazing.
Lee All right.
Lee They fucking.
Lee Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
Lee If they ever bothered to film that properly.
Lee Yeah, that's what I said.
Lee I'm going to say that I'm going to say that that's a great pick.
Lee That's a great pick.
