Adam Good evening everyone and welcome to the Mos Eisley Happy Hour.
Adam My name is Adam, and joining me are Lee, Lee.
Unknown Hey!
Chris Hello.
Adam And Wesley.
Unknown Hello.
Chris Good old Wesley Sith back again.
Unknown Yeah.
Chris To cut us down in our prime.
Adam If only that were true, my prime.
Lee Swine.
Adam And uh yes, we are here back once again because well, you know, fate deemed it as such.
Adam We are now watching, well, we have watched Star Wars Episode 2: Attack of the Clones.
Adam So, uh, yes, before we, you know, head straight into that, I'm going to call it a mixed bag, shall we say.
Adam Yeah.
Adam Uh gentlemen, uh, has anyone watched anything that's, I don't know, Star Wars adjacent or anything or has any sort of bits to add, Lee?
Lee Yes.
Adam He has.
Lee Um, so in preparation for this, because I was thinking about things that uh, as you say, are Star Wars adjacent and it reminded me of a simpler time.
Lee Um, so I went back in time mentally to 1996, um, so in 1996, I was uh a teenager working at a holiday camp.
Lee Uh, the name of which I will not mention.
Lee Um, and I lived there, and I remember one afternoon, we'd all been to the pub.
Lee And my friend said, "I've got something incredible to show you all."
Adam It wasn't that.
Unknown Oh yeah.
Lee So we all went back to his chalet, um, and bearing in mind all I'd seen of computer games at this point was the ZX Spectrum.
Lee Uh, I'd seen the Super Nintendo and I'd had like a Master System.
Lee Um, and I went back to his.
Chris They were pretty, pretty good systems.
Lee They are, but he had this new thing called a PlayStation.
Chris Oh.
Lee And on that PlayStation, he had Star Wars Rebel Assault 2, and it blew my tiny little mind.
Lee Um, so I, so I spent the next four years wanting this PlayStation and game and never got them.
Lee And now, 24 years later, um, I bought it this week on Steam and played Rebel Assault 2 on the PC.
Chris Was it everything you remembered it to be?
Lee It was bloody brilliant, I'm not going to lie.
Lee Um.
Adam It is, yeah.
Chris Now, is that, is that the video, essentially, it's a video and you have to push at the right time?
Lee No, it, so it is proper levels and each one is different.
Lee So the first level you're in a Y-Wing and you've got to shoot down TIE fighters.
Lee I mean, it's pretty.
Adam It's the one, yeah, it's the one I'm thinking of then, yeah.
Lee And it's a mouse and it's just point and click on the X-Wings and they die, like, a lot of it.
Lee Like, like, to be fair, I did it on beginner level, but I played the first seven levels in one sitting in about 45 minutes.
Lee But I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Lee So, it's on Steam, it's £7.19 for Rebel Assault 1 and 2.
Lee Uh, yeah, if you're into retro gaming, they are super simple.
Lee And that's what I like, it's not like the new games where there's 250, like, you know, um, controls to remember.
Lee It's left click, right click, move the mouse.
Lee It's that easy.
Lee Um, yeah.
Lee And you get to fly the Millennium Falcon, you get to fly an X-Wing.
Lee It's a TIE fighter.
Lee You get to shoot stormtroopers.
Lee Ah, it's just, it's everything you want.
Chris What more could you want?
Lee Brilliant.
Lee So, yeah.
Adam There is a Hoth level, isn't there? There's a snow speeder level, because I remember playing that.
Lee There may be, I haven't gotten to it.
Lee I think there's 16 levels in total, and as I say, I did the first seven, I think, so, yeah.
Lee Really good.
Adam Nice.
Adam Well, um, that's, um, yeah, no, I, I, I recall that as well.
Adam There are, there's still some bloody amazing games within the Star Wars universe.
Adam Um, and yeah, that's one of the things that definitely comes up in this episode is there are quite a few that are just now in my head bits from games.
Lee Yes.
Chris Oh, yeah.
Adam Um, it was the original X-Wing was what made me want to get a PC. I remember seeing that at a friend's house and just thinking that is the most amazing looking game ever.
Adam Similar to Lee, I think this might have been a few years before because I had I had the um, I had Rebel Assault 1.
Adam And it was like one of the first CD-ROM games and so it was the, uh, you know, the motion video.
Adam But yeah, there wasn't too much to it, so in comparison to X-Wing, it was a bit limited.
Adam Um, but, you know, it's, it was fun.
Adam Just, uh, yeah, I never played Rebel Assault 2, though.
Lee Ah.
Lee Do it, it's really good. As I say, like, it's, it's on an emulator, so it's a bit clunky.
Lee Every time you click at the wrong part of the screen, it comes down to like a portion of your screen and you can't maximize it again without restarting your computer.
Lee So it's a bit.
Lee But, um.
Lee Yeah, like, to be fair, you don't want the graphics on a great big 24-inch screen because they look like dog, so you want them in a tiny little screen, it works perfectly.
Adam Yeah, that's true. Don't do it through your projector.
Lee No, no.
Adam So, uh, any, any others have uh any uh Star Wars adjacent or?
Chris I, I'm watched, I finished watching The Mandalorian, but we can't talk about it, so that's the end of that.
Adam I appreciate I appreciate all of you gentlemen for that you I'm wouldn't wouldn't spoil it for me.
Adam Although there is an element where I have eyes and access to the Internet, so.
Lee Oh.
Adam There's, there's quite a few bits that I'm kind of aware of now.
Lee Yeah.
Adam Because, yeah, and, and in fairness, if you're late, if you're late to the party, you have to expect it a bit.
Chris You deserve a bit, yeah.
Chris But it's still worth watching, I would say, even knowing some of it.
Adam Oh, no, absolutely. All the spoilers I've heard have made me want to watch it.
Adam So.
Adam You know, everything I hear always, even if it's like, oh, I should have got in that, I wish I didn't know that, that's fucking brilliant.
Adam So.
Chris It did, it did add a bit, actually, for me, rewatching Attack of the Clones now, seeing Jango Fett and Boba Fett after seeing The Mandalorian.
Chris It added a little extra depth to their characters, so that was good.
Adam Yeah, of course, yeah.
Adam Um, because, uh, oh, um, I can't think, I can't think of the actor's name, but um.
Adam Uh, obviously the guy who plays Jango Fett as Boba gets hold of, would become.
Adam Uh, the he's a clone.
Adam So.
Adam I mean, gives spoiler, yeah, that's that's the point.
Adam Actually, yeah, I did the intro a bit bad, be prepared for swearing and spoilers.
Adam Um, so, you know, the fact that we've possibly spoiled things and definitely sworn before now, um, I admit that this is a bit late in the day, but it's not too late in the day, you know, it's not like in the closing credits, shall we say.
Lee We're not in deep, yeah.
Adam No, no, no.
Adam Deeper.
Adam But.
Adam Uh, and um, yeah, so, uh, and uh, where's have you been Star Wars-ing in any way, shape or form?
Unknown Um, two things.
Wesley Two things, really, I started rewatching Star Wars Rebels.
Wesley And on the PlayStation Store, they had a whole bunch of Star War games, so I got myself the, uh, Podracing one.
Adam Oh, yeah.
Wesley I also got myself the Super Arcade Star Wars one, which is good.
Adam And.
Chris What do you have to do in that?
Wesley Oh, it's, it's just like, it starts with Luke Skywalker on Tatooine.
Adam And yeah.
Chris Is that like a platform? You're running along.
Wesley Yeah, yeah.
Chris Okay.
Wesley But I just, I played like the beginning of that until I died, and then I went straight onto the Podracing one.
Wesley Because I just love, I love racing games, so.
Lee Yeah.
Adam Yeah.
Adam I mean, that's the good thing.
Wesley I only learned recently that because I don't drive and know nothing about driving, Sam told me that when you take a corner, you're supposed to slow down.
Wesley I didn't, I thought there was an angled way you flip the back out and it went around and through it.
Lee That's what you may.
Adam Many ways.
Adam Is it a relief that you're not driving in that?
Wesley I would say so.
Adam Yes.
Wesley For my own safety, if no one else's.
Adam I mean, I think you, that's another good point that works probably in the favor of the Star Wars games is that they do have.
Adam You do have a bit of everything.
Adam So you can have, you will, you will have racing levels, you will have combat levels, you'll have platform levels.
Adam Um, and, and weirdly enough, even in the early, the earlier films where they weren't necessarily thinking in that sense, you still had bits that you could definitely pinpoint.
Adam And it's like, right, if, if you're adapting the game of this, this, these are the beats you put in.
Adam Yeah.
Adam You know.
Adam You, for example, you have to fight the Rancor if you were, you know, so you get a Shadow of the Colossus moment in.
Adam In the game.
Adam But, um, although for me the whole, the whole thing, I think, lives and dies with Lego Star Wars.
Adam I was addicted to those sort of games.
Lee Yeah.
Wesley And.
Adam Um.
Adam Yeah.
Adam And, you know, and, and also just when you suddenly found out.
Adam Hang on.
Adam So if I unlock all the characters in the prequel's version, I can play them in the original trilogy version.
Adam And suddenly, yeah.
Adam You're walking around like General Grievous.
Adam And, uh, you know, and that just, oh, yeah, it's a pleasure.
Wesley Jajar is great at jumping.
Wesley So you can get all the high things in the new ones.
Adam Yeah.
Adam And also there's a weird bit where you break down and, oh, no, no, that was, I think it was the other way around, but, um.
Adam There was bits where you could visit other, uh, Lego games.
Adam Because there is definitely a hidden level in the Indiana Jones Lego where you end up in the Cantina because it's like the, um, sort of early, um, from Raiders of the Last Ark.
Adam And you end up with, yeah, and you end up, there's you break down this wall and suddenly you're in the Cantina or on Mos Eisley or in Jabba's Palace and stuff.
Lee Nice.
Adam Um, yeah, they were, they were, they're great games.
Adam Those I definitely would have to dig.
Wesley And when you're Yoda, never walk anywhere unless you've got your lightsaber out.
Adam Hm.
Wesley Because it'd be sodding walking around for ages with that little walking stick.
Lee Yeah.
Adam Yeah, it's painful.
Adam But, um, yes.
Adam Well, I think without a further ado or a don't, I think we need to, um, begin the opening crawl of the episode.
Adam So, Star Wars Episode 2: Attack of the Clones.
Adam We are in 2002.
Adam Since the last film, Clinton's gone, so we're now got the twin evils of George W. Bush and Tony Blair ruling the roost.
Adam Probably more significantly, this is the first post 9/11 Star Wars film, obviously.
Adam Princess Margaret dies, the Queen Mother follows soon afterwards, the Queen celebrates her Golden Jubilee, or her Golden Jabli, we're not sure which.
Adam Um.
Adam There's the, uh, murders of Millie Dowler, Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman.
Adam Uh, the Potters Bar rail crash.
Adam There's a, the SARS outbreak begins in, uh, Guangdong Province in China.
Adam Girls Aloud win the X Factor The Rivals.
Adam George W. Bush signs off on the creation of the Department of Homeland Security.
Adam And Napster closes.
Adam So considering that they started when we were doing Phantom Menace, that goes to prove that that wasn't actually that long a bloody period.
Lee Nice.
Chris Although a lot of music was downloaded in that time.
Adam Oh, yeah.
Adam And, well, not only that, but also at this point, that feels like, you know, knocking up a bit of cardboard to stop a flood.
Adam So.
Adam You know, it's just, just turns out was utterly fucking pointless in the end.
Chris I'm sure it made some solicitors and lawyers a lot of money.
Adam And isn't that the point?
Adam I think that's the.
Chris That's the point of everything, yeah.
Adam It is.
Adam The point of, the point of any of these shenanigans.
Adam In film you have The Original Dark Water.
Adam Uh, David Cronenberg's Spider, The Mothman Prophecy, Super Troopers.
Adam Queen of the Damned, The Time Machine, that's the remake with Guy Pearce.
Adam Uh, well, it's obviously not the fucking 60s one because it's 2002.
Adam Um, Ice Age, Resident Evil, Ali G Indahouse, Blade 2, Panic Room, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance.
Adam Frailty, Bend It Like Beckham, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, The Scorpion King, Jason X.

Adam Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Die Another Day, Friday After Next, Solaris, Deathwatch, Adaptation.
Adam Equilibrium.
Adam Star Trek: Nemesis, and The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, and Gangs of New York.
Adam So, you know, a weirdly interesting year, but some of the more popular films will also draw you into the, the potential horrors that were being abounded in 2002.
Adam And not just by, you know, not just government by war criminal.
Adam So, unfortunately, we lose Spike Milligan, Dudley Moore and Joe Strummer.
Adam In TV, though, we get, um, Look Around You starts.
Adam 15 Stories High.
Adam Uh, the only series of Believe Nothing with Rick Mayall.
Adam Uh, Harry Hill's TV Burp starts.

Adam Uh, the comeback of Alf's Weed, the Same Pets, Spooks, Dick and Dom in da Bungalow.
Adam Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway.
Adam I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! starts.
Adam Most Haunted, so, yeah, there's some right old shite.
Adam Um.
Adam Uh, ending, The League of Gentlemen, who obviously started when we were, uh, when we were talking about Phantom Menace.
Adam Uh, the last series of Big Train.
Adam I'm Alan Partridge.
Adam Blankety Blank.
Adam And this, I found utterly shocking, but Big Break finished in 2002.
Lee What?
Adam What?
Adam Yeah, and I mean that is.
Adam No, no, that's, that's, that's, that's wrong.
Adam You've got your timelines wrong.
Adam It's all, it's all over the place.
Adam No, it's not right.
Adam It's not right.
Adam In singles terms.
Adam And I will say that these are sort of, I'm, I'm sort of, I've tried to balance this list from, from, uh, good to fair to piss awful.
Adam Um.
Adam But, uh, yeah, big singles that year, Basement Jaxx, Where's Your Head At?
Adam Uh, No One Knows, Queens of the Stone Age, Work It, Missy Elliott.
Adam Fell in Love with a Girl, White Stripes.

Adam Pink with Get the Party Started and Just Like a Pill.
Adam Um.
Adam Bowling for Soup.
Adam And Avril Lavigne, Complicated and Skater Boy.
Adam Uh.
Lee Not a single good song in that year, is that what you're trying to tell me?
Adam There's some good stuff in there, but it is again, I would say more, I was fine with that, rather than, yeah.
Adam No, no, not at all.
Adam However.
Adam However, in albums you get.
Adam Suno's Flight of the Behemoth.
Adam Sneaker Pimps, Bloodsport.
Adam Baldus of Kanaja, Geogaddi.
Adam Uh, Clinic.
Adam Arch Enemy.
Adam Uh.
Adam A couple for you, Lee.
Adam I mean, this is a weird thing, is when you look at the album stuff, it's fuck, it's a fucking heavy year.
Adam But also with lots of ska punk.
Adam Which is just, again, I didn't think that 2002 was really that much of a ska punk year, but apparently it was.
Adam But.
Adam Yeah, so, like I say.
Adam Suno, um, Gravity Kills, Old Dirty Bastard, Ryan Christian, The Mars Volta.
Adam Um.
Adam Twisted, John Spencer Blues Explosion, The Melvins, Hostile Ambient Takeover.
Adam Sage Francis' first album.
Adam Two from Tom Waits, Alice and Blood Money.
Adam Um.
Adam Real Big Fish with Favorite Noise.
Lee Yeah.
Adam And, uh, Cheer Up.
Adam Um.
Adam Moby, Cold Chamber.
Adam Remission, Mastodon.
Adam Ooh.
Lee That is a solid album.
Adam Um.
Adam Yeah, uh, well, like I say.
Adam It gets better in here.
Adam There's, uh, what else we got?
Adam Uh, Skindred Babylon, DJ Shadow Private Press.
Adam Dave Bowie, Heathen.
Adam Uh, The Voodoo Glow Skulls.
Adam Which was a name that I have not thought about since I last saw it written down.
Lee Yeah.
Adam Um, but, you know, that was just one that was like, oh, yeah, that, that happened, didn't it?
Lee That was a band.
Adam Mighty Mighty Bosstones with a Jack Knife to a Swan.
Adam Uh, Flaming Lips, Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots.
Adam Uh, unfortunately My Chemical Romance's first album.
Adam Uh, Evil Heat, Primal Scream.
Adam Dillinger Escape Plan with Mike Patton.

Adam Yeah.
Adam Um.
Adam Uh, Queens of the Stone Age, Songs for the Death.
Adam The Vandals, Internet Dating Super Studs, Nardasurf, Let's Go.
Adam Um.
Adam Ladytron, Isis, Oceanic.
Lee Oh.
Lee Another Stone Cold Classic doom album.
Adam I thought, I there was, there was a couple here as I was, as I was jotting these down, there was a couple here where I was like, I know Lee is going to have a sharp intake of breath when it's like, actually, that's fucking good.
Lee Sorry, I just called it doom, it isn't, of course, it's metal rock, but yeah, it's um, it's heavy.
Adam It's orchestral, but.
Adam Purple Onion from Colonel Claypool's Fearless Flying Frog Brigade.
Adam Suede, New Morning, Hot Water Music, Caution.
Adam Um.
Adam Uh, Godspeed You Black Emperor, uh, not um, Sigur Ros with the brackets album.
Lee Yeah.
Adam Um, or parentheses.
Adam Godspeed You! Black Emperor.
Adam Uh, Yankee UXO.
Adam Johnny Cash, American 4.
Adam Ooh, excuse me, When the Man Comes Around.
Adam ICP The Wraith: Shangri-La.
Adam System of a Down, Steal This Album, and Missy Elliott, Under Construction.
Adam Oh, and Dot Allison, We Are Science.
Adam And what do we say when we see Dot Allison, Wes?
Adam Mm.
Lee Heheheheh.
Adam No, that was, uh, we, uh, Tower Records in Camden, someone had added that to, you know, like when you flick through the CDs and they've got the, um, markers.
Lee Yeah.
Adam With all the different band names on there, yeah, on Dot Allison's, it had Dot Allison, mm.
Adam So she definitely had a Tower Records.
Chris And was that System of a Down album called Steal This Album?
Adam Yes.
Chris So that must be a common.
Adam It was the best selling album of all time because everyone stole it.
Lee God, I hate System of a Down.
Lee Just wanted to put it out there.
Lee You've mentioned them twice in this episode in, well, once in this episode and once in the previous episode, and at no point did I point out how much I hate them, so I'm doing it now.
Adam I'm afraid.
Wesley Still seething from the last episode.
Lee Two weeks later, and I'm still going, should have said something.
Adam We've been.
Chris The Phantom Menace.
Adam This is the danger of coming back to these times.
Adam You know, with time travel comes consequence.
Adam You know, I have to warn you of these things.
Adam Yes, we can all have fun at the Queen Mother's funeral.
Adam But you might have to listen to some right old shit.
Adam So.
Adam You know.
Adam It swings around about.
Lee It is, unfortunately.
Adam Hm.
Adam And there we have it.
Adam So, 2002's Attack of the Clones.
Adam Uh, Chris, uh, what are you, where are you and who are you?
Adam No.
Adam Chris, uh, yeah, initial thoughts on Attack of the Clones, having rewatched for this, or watched recently for this.
Chris Yeah, so this is my third viewing.
Chris Um, I watched it fairly recently for the second time.
Chris Um, and the first time was in the cinema, but I don't remember it as clearly as Phantom Menace.
Chris Um, I guess at that point it had started to blend in a little bit.
Chris Um, so what I took away from watching it the first time was definitely liked the whole, um, parts of the story where you start to see Anakin turning into Vader.
Chris So I, I thought artistically, some of that they did well. I did like, you know, the shadow, um, when he's on, when he's about to go to the sand people.
Chris You know, things like that, you know, it could be tacky, but I thought some of that did work for me.
Chris Um, but I, I struggled between, I would say the worst elements were the dialogue between him and Obi-Wan.
Chris I just, I felt like, um.
Chris Like I, I understood that they were trying to get across the fact that Obi-Wan was dealing with him badly, but it just felt a bit like too obvious.
Chris Like the, the Jedi Council should have perhaps stepped in between the 10 years of him training him and just constantly telling him he's a stupid young Padawan who knows nothing all the time.
Chris Like, I mean, if anything, that would turn me into Darth Vader.
Chris I'd accidentally turn my lightsaber on and just cut Obi-Wan a little bit occasionally.
Adam Oh, yeah.
Lee A little bit.
Chris You know, like it's just.
Adam Yeah.
Chris Just chill a bit, you know.
Chris Like and especially when they know he's got anger problems, like don't put him with some sarcastic, jumped up, you know, barely trained himself Jedi wannabe master.
Chris But anyway.
Chris It's, that's, that's sort of my view on them.
Chris But I, I did like, um, yeah, the whole story as it unfolded and with him and Padmé, it's, it's pretty good.
Chris You know, again, quite awkward parts, but, you know, I can see what they were going at with it.
Chris So overall, I did, I did kind of like it, but, um, yeah.
Adam But you feel that, you feel that Obi-Wan was just a bit.
Chris He, he did not do it for me.
Chris As.
Chris As I imagined Obi-Wan from seeing him in the, the originals, it just, it wasn't quite how I imagined he would have been.
Adam Yeah, I mean, I can, I can see what you think.
Adam I think, mind you, I find.
Adam I, I think I personally, I find a lot of the dialogue, anything involving Anakin seems a bit off.
Adam Yeah.
Adam Point.
Adam You know.
Adam And, and it's, you know, I don't want to, I don't want to, um, sort of blame Hayden Christensen.
Chris I, I would say, yeah, I would say it doesn't immediately make me think it's all his fault.
Adam No, no.
Adam I think, well, again, I think we might be back to that thing we were talking about last week where George Lucas famously doesn't really quite get the best out.
Adam Direct actors.
Chris Yeah.
Adam He gets them to say the dialogue and he's really involved on, you know, how the spaceship's going to land.
Adam But they're kind of left to get on with it a bit, I think.
Adam Although, when I was watching it, I had this sort of, I had this thought that I was like, what he needed to do is you needed to get.
Adam Like I said, you needed to start it off, he should have been a teen in, uh, uh, Phantom Menace.
Adam And it should have been someone cool and sort of.
Adam Um, in my head, suddenly popped up, Ryan Reynolds, because imagine that where he, I think he'd have done that really well where you'd have been like.
Adam Because Anakin Skywalker, I think the whole point is he's meant to be cool, and again, we're back to my mum talking about my dad, where it's like, I thought he was brooding, actually, he was moody.
Chris Yeah.
Adam Yeah.
Adam You know, I don't, I don't know if they sell, you know, Anakin never feels like he could turn into Darth Vader through this a lot of the time.
Adam Yeah.
Chris I think for me it was more subtlety was missing.
Adam Hm.
Adam But, uh, so, Lee, where, and where, you know, going from, going from that fact, obviously the main thrust of this is Anakin.
Adam So.
Adam How do you, how do you feel that was presented in Attack of the Clones?
Lee Yeah, I just, I think you're, I think that's, that's, I think you're absolutely right.
Lee You can't blame Hayden Christensen, I don't think he was the best person for the role.
Lee Um.
Lee But, only because you just said Ryan Reynolds, and I'd put Ryan Reynolds in absolutely anything, because he's dreamy.
Lee Sorry.
Lee Go on.
Adam Right.
Adam There, there is, sorry, there was a, I, I meant to, that's what I meant to say before I, before I came to, was there.
Adam I did see a list today, there's like about 10 other actors that they, they genuinely auditioned.
Chris Hm.
Adam In that fucking list, you've got Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, and Leonardo DiCaprio.
Lee Wow.
Adam Now.
Adam Now.
Adam Now, at the time, I would have been really annoyed by Leonardo DiCaprio, but I was wrong and he's a fucking good actor.
Adam And.
Chris What was it?
Chris What was it that convinced you of that change?
Adam When his head deflated.
Lee Hehe.
Adam Lots of onion head.
Chris But anyway, so, so I always thought I would hate him.
Chris And every film I saw him in, I was like, he did a good job, that was great.
Lee Yeah.
Lee He to be, last weekend, funnily enough, I went back and rewatched for the first time since I first saw it.
Lee I went back and rewatched Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
Adam Hm, hm.
Lee Um.
Lee And I was like, you know what, I thought it was one of the best films I'd ever seen.
Lee Going back to it, obviously, I'm going to have higher expectations, so I'm going to come away with a more realistic bedrock of how I feel about it afterwards.
Lee Um.
Lee Yeah, absolutely the same, just still one of the most solid movies I've ever seen.
Lee Every performance.
Chris I really did like him and Brad Pitt together.
Chris I thought that was quite funny.
Lee Yeah.
Adam Brad Pitt's another one.
Adam Yeah.
Lee You know, oh, he's, he's just in all these films because he's a pretty boy and they're not the type of films that we'd want. And then as soon as they put them in our films, they go, yeah, no, he's genuinely a genius and deserves everything he's got.
Adam Yeah.
Adam But I, I, you know, and like I say, I mean, I, I mean, actually, I'll, I'll give him his due.
Adam Although I find Hayden Christensen really sort of quite wooden in the role, one bit that he actually does brilliantly is when he finds his mum.
Lee Yeah.
Adam That bit is actually really well done.
Adam But, I mean, obviously, you know.
Adam Him romancing Amidala.
Adam I'm.
Adam I'm going to have to use the phrase.
Adam Sponge knob, no pants.
Lee Hehe.
Adam Because.
Adam You know what I mean? It's, it's just.
Adam I, it never rings.
Chris When Shelly saw bit of it while I was watching, she was like, oh, that's where you got your romancing fuels from, is it?
Lee Hehe.
Adam Oh.
Chris You got me.
Lee Oh, he's so.
Lee Like, and I think that's the thing, like I say, you can't blame him for it, um, because obviously he's been handed a script.
Lee And he's, you know, he's a new actor and he's doing the script has been given.
Lee But everything he says makes you hate him, whether it's, like, just, it, like you say, you've got some time with Amidala.
Lee You want to try and win around, try and be smooth.
Lee Don't just immediately go, I've dreamed about you every night since we met.
Lee Yeah, that's not going to work, you villain.
Lee And then it's either doing that, yeah, or he's having awkward dad arguments with Obi-Wan.
Lee Like, every time he opened his mouth, I was like, God, I hate this.
Lee Not the actor, I hate this character.
Adam It doesn't.
Adam Yeah.
Adam Yeah.
Adam I mean, Wes.
Adam Where, where do you stand?
Adam Because I don't think I, I think that's the problem I have with the film is just Anakin doesn't feel like he's going to turn into Darth Vader.
Wesley I mean, I watched the film waiting for all the little, which you're not supposed to do.
Wesley All the little bits that link it in with the rest of the trilogy.
Wesley Which I started to see it's definitely a film which has more of the linking firsts in it, rather than a Phantom Menace does.
Wesley You know, you actually start to see the stormtroopers, you start to see the Star Destroyers.
Chris Yeah, yeah, I quite liked that when the Star Destroyers.
Wesley But.
Wesley But the acting of him just, I mean, you would think you've got Christopher Lee in it.
Adam Oh.
Wesley Who is really, really good, and then he's acting against that and it's a little bit, makes you want to cringe.
Adam Well, again, and him with, him with Ewan McGregor, and I think it gets, if I remember rightly.
Adam Um, it's very much the same story in Revenge in Revenge of the Sith, where he becomes a very sort of, um.
Adam Yeah.
Adam He basically just gets acted off the screen because he's with Ewan McGregor.
Adam And like you say, it's a bit.
Wesley His acting is better in the third one.
Wesley In my opinion.
Adam Oh, in my opinion.
Wesley It's almost as if he, he made notes on this one.
Wesley And then thought, right, I will do better this time.
Chris But.
Chris But I, I definitely do blame some of the actual lines he was given. I think, because there was a few where I was like, if you took those out and almost scrapped the rest, it wasn't too bad.
Chris Like, so it was a few, what I just thought, yeah, I quite liked that bit, but, uh, yeah.
Adam I mean, it's, it's the classic thing that, um, Harrison Ford talked about where he's like, you can write it, but you can't say it.
Adam You know.
Chris Yeah.
Adam As like.
Adam Lucas to like hopelessly to George Lucas.
Adam And again.
Adam It's like, right, go over there and romance this bird is your dialogue.
Adam And it's a bit, yeah, he's like.
Adam Oh, seriously, I've got to read this, this is embarrassing.
Lee Yeah.
Adam Exactly.
Adam Yeah.
Adam Apparently, apparently the bit where he's talking about, what is it, aggressive negotiations.
Chris Hm.
Adam Yeah.
Adam Um, apparently that was stuff that him and Natalie Portman came up with because they really hated.
Adam The dialogue that, like, the romantic dialogue was apparently worse.
Lee So.
Lee That was one of the only bits that felt like a genuine conversation between two people spending time together.
Adam Yeah.
Adam And, and I, you know, and like I say, I mean, I think, I mean, actually.
Adam I'll, I'll give him his due, although I find Hayden Christensen really sort of quite wooden in the role, one bit that he actually does brilliantly is when he finds his mom.
Lee Yeah.
Adam That bit is actually really well done.
Adam But, I mean, obviously, you know.

Adam And again.
Adam It's like, right, go over there and romance this bird is your dialogue.
Adam And it's a bit, yeah, he's like.
Adam Oh, seriously, I've got to read this, this is embarrassing.
Lee Yeah.
Adam Exactly.
Adam Yeah.
Adam Apparently.
Adam Apparently the bit where he's talking about, what is it, aggressive negotiations.
Chris Hm.
Adam Him romancing Amidala.
Adam Um, it's very much the same story in Revenge in Revenge of the Sith, where he becomes a very sort of, um, he basically just gets acted off the screen because he's with Ewan McGregor.
