Slither

About
This week we’re chock full o’ space worms as we infect ourselves with James Gunn’s body horror comedy “Slither”. A film in which Henry (Portrait of a Serial Killer) transforms into an angry haemorrhoid; Mal from Firefly leads a dry-land squid hunt; and we have a potential winner for “Best Comedy Mayor in a Motion Picture”. Along the way we discuss “Color Out Of Space”, “Tales From The Hood II” and “Get Duked!”. Watch (or re-watch) to avoid spoilers, and join us. APOLOGIES FOR ANY SOUND QUALITY ISSUES -CURRENT QUARANTINE MEASURES MEANT WE HAD TO RECORD THIS EPISODE REMOTELY.
My easygoing nature is getting sorely fucking tested.

Lee Good evening and welcome to Horror. I'm Lee.
Chris I'm Chris.
Adam And I'm Adam.
Lee Yes, that's right. Uh, very pleased to see that Adam has made it after last week's, uh, encounter, shall we say? Uh, but we'll leave it there for anyone who hasn't yet listened to the episode.
Chris Yeah, no, he's, he's, turns out it was just night terrors, huh.
Adam Who'd have thunk it?
Lee So, everybody has come back after last week's episode. Thanks very much for bearing with us.
Lee Um, yeah, we, uh, we were totally hit by the curse. It wasn't bad enough my internet kept cutting out, and then our recording equipment, which is online, which isn't even linked to my internet, kept dropping out, and then just to make it even worse, after a few days when I went to edit the episode, um, parts of it had come out like, uh, like a bad telephone line, so it was a lot of.
Lee So we lost the first like two minutes of Chris saying how much he enjoyed The Omen, which we didn't get back.
Lee Uh, and we missed all of the curse.
Lee But, um, yeah, I say the only alternative was to record the whole episode a few days later, but the problem with that is you then get the déjà vu effect, where you're like, I've definitely said this, did I say it an hour ago or did I say it last weekend? So we decided not to go down that route and, uh, just give you what you got really, so.
Lee Hopefully, you haven't all abandoned us because of one bad episode, but we'll see.
Chris So we're not doing bad.
Adam Overall.
Lee This is episode 104, uh, and we've had two failures so far. So, I think we're doing all right really, track record-wise.
Chris I, I would, I would like to point out at this point that self-applause is no applause.
Chris So let's crack on.
Lee Uh, and actually, while we are quoting other people, I would like to point out, uh, yeah, I was thinking this earlier, this week, as in the great words of Blackadder, we are not at home to Mr. Cock-up.
Lee So let's hope it all goes all right.
Chris Hopefully I won't have to prepare the spare room.
Lee Oh.
Lee Um, so, Chris, in the last seven days, uh, have you managed to watch anything?
Chris Yes, I have.
Chris I, I watched something that turned out to be, I would say, an excellent choice based on the main event.
Chris And it was, but you know, you might disagree, it was Colour Out of Space.
Adam Ooh.
Lee Oh, nice. The, the Nicolas Cage one?
Chris Yes, and I, I didn't realise that was Nicolas Cage. I mean, it's obvious, you know, that he's on the cover. But I just, I, I think I'd been distracted by the nice colour purple and blue. And yeah, and then when I realised it was Nicholas Cage, it was like, okay, this is probably going to get a bit crazy then based on, like, what else he's done. Um, so yeah, no, it's, uh, it was kind of funny as well because my son's playing a game called Terraria, which is a 2D kind of like a pixel art type game. And it's all based around Cthulhu. Um, yeah, so he's sort of been learning some of the lore of Cthulhu because he likes to read their wikis.
Chris And so when he, he saw, just randomly, he saw that I was looking at for films to watch. And he's like, oh, can I watch that? And I said, it's an 18. He's like, yeah, but look, look at the colours, it's great, and it's HP Lovecraft, who, who wrote, you know, Call of Cthulhu. And, yeah.
Chris Then obviously I don't know that much about HP Lovecraft, aside from what both of you have said. Um,
Adam Never Google his cat's name. F***'s sake.
Chris But yeah, so, um, it turned out I definitely shouldn't have let him watch it, and I luckily didn't.
Lee Excellent.
Adam I'm glad that was the end of that story because I was going to say this is just, yeah. I didn't want you to, I didn't want to hear how he'd reacted to the, to the alpacalypse.
Chris Yes, yeah, I've, I've got a new found appreciation of alpacas.
